Job Description:

The Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts seeks applicants for an in-person tenure track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in face-to-face, flex (Zoom), hybrid, and online formats, to serve as Concert Band and Community Band Conductor, and to oversee activities pertaining to the Pick Axe Pep Band (indoor athletic event pep band).  Responsibilities of this position include Studio instruction in either low brass (euphonium/trombone/tuba), high brass (trumpet/horn) or percussion, and teaching of Music Theory, Ear Training, Conducting, applicable Methods courses, and General Education courses (American Popular Music), serve on university committees and complete other duties as assigned by the department.  Duties of the position will commence August 7, 2025. The Cameron University Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts is an interdisciplinary department with 10 full-time faculty. The Department offers the BM, BME and BA degrees in Music. All three of our music programs are NASM accredited. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Music Doctorate (ABD within 1 year) degree in Conducting, High or Low Brass or Percussion and performance experience.   

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Music Doctorate degree in Conducting, High or Low Brass or Percussion with demonstrated, comprehensive knowledge of band repertoire at the University level, demonstrated success in recruiting, retaining and graduating successful music students, demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the college level, and significant performance and pedagogical abilities in High or Low Brass or Percussion.    

 

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.
