The Director of Open Doors/Upward Bound manages the Talent Search and Upward Bound TRIO programs at Cameron University.  The director is responsible for the administration and oversight of programs and personnel that ensure the efficient, equitable, and student-centered delivery of program services. This position supervises full-time and part-time professional and classified staff. The Director of Open Doors/Upward Bound reports to the Director of Sponsored Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities of the Director include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise program staff and guide their efforts in achieving goals and objectives, including student recruitment and programming
  • Develop and manage budgets in alignment with federal program guidelines and university policy
  • Collect and analyze program evaluation data and supervise submission of annual performance reports for both programs
  • Assess program activities and participate in the university assessment process
  • Assist with the submission of federal, state, and institutional reports as required
  • Write program grant proposals
  • Coordinate and facilitate Upward Bound residential summer programming and educational field trips
  • Engage and support parents/guardians in the college preparation process by providing monthly informational meetings about the college preparation process
  • Participate in staff development programming, campus functions, and serve on University committees
  • Maintain knowledge of federal guidelines and regulations for the Upward Bound and Talent Search programs
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations as connected to secondary and postsecondary education
  • Work collaboratively with campus and community stakeholders to include teachers, staff, and administrators at Lawton Public Schools
  • Chaperone activities and transport students as needed, including nights and weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in education, behavioral science, or related field, or MBA
  • Three years administrative experience in TRIO or related projects
  • Three years budgetary management experience
  • Three years’ experience in secondary or higher education
  • Background similar to those of program participants


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and excellent customer services skills.
  • Prior employment within a TRIO program
  • Demonstrated record of collegiality and successful workplace collaborations.
  • Previous grant writing experience 
  • A terminal degree (specifically Ed.D. or Ph.D.)


SALARY RANGE: $51,970
