Temporary Mathematics Instructor

The Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a Temporary Mathematics Instructor position for Spring 2025 semester. The department offers BA in Mathematics, Certificate in Cyber Security, AAS and BS in Information Technology, and BS in Computer Science degrees. The teaching load for the Spring 2025 semester is 12 undergraduate hours per semester of developmental and general education courses. The position requires expertise to:
· Teach a diverse student body in daytime and/or evening classes on the main campus.
· Participate actively in syllabus writing, development of examinations, and selection of learning materials.
· Teach in various modalities as requested by the department (traditional, hybrid, virtual, and online).
· Teach courses using a graphing calculator and other technologies, such as TI-84.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the position requires holding at least 8 hours of office hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates applying for this position must meet least one of the following criteria:
1) Possess a master’s degree in Mathematics or closely related field (e.g. Statistics)
2) Possess a bachelor’s degree AND 18 graduate hours in Mathematics or closely related field (e.g. Statistics)
3) Possess a master’s degree and 12 graduate hours in Mathematics or closely related field (e.g. Statistics)
4) Possess a mater's degree and have relevant work experience and/or certification and credentials in the field/discipline to be taught
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Demonstrated experience teaching at the college level.
2) Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching to first generation and non-traditional students.
3) Experience teaching courses targeted toward students with developmental mathematics needs.
4) Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
5) Ability to work collegially in a team environment.
