Assistant Professor or Instructor of Agriculture, Biology, and Health Sciences (Animal Science), potential Tenure-Track

The Department of Agriculture, Biology, and Health Sciences invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, (tenure-track, with terminal degree) faculty member in animal science at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor, beginning January or August 2025. The area of expertise for this position is in animal science and the department is interested in attracting a broadly trained scientist to complement its existing Agriculture faculty. The duties of this position will include teaching lower division and upper division courses that support the animal science concentration, including but not limited to Introduction to Animal Science, Animal Reproduction, Principles of Animal Nutrition, Beef Cattle Science, and other courses in the department as determined by the expertise of the finalist. Faculty members at Cameron University have a 12-hour teaching load each semester, including laboratory instruction. Faculty members are expected to actively participate in academic advising, general education and program assessment, program improvement activities, departmental recruitment and retention efforts, departmental governance, and identified university activities. Responsibilities for the tenure-track position also include accomplishing scholarly activity such as undergraduate research and service work.
The department offers a B.S. in Agriculture with concentrations in agronomy, animal science, agribusiness management, and general agriculture, and a B.S. in Biology. In addition, the department offers an A.S. in Allied Health Sciences, an A.A.S. in Respiratory Care, and an A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology. The department oversees the operation of the Cameron University Farm, which includes a full-time farm operator and has dedicated facilities for instruction in animal and plant science, along with maintenance and storage facilities. Native and improved pasture is available on University-owned and leased land, and animal handling and care equipment is available. The Cameron University Farm seasonally maintains cattle, hogs, and sheep, and has capacity to add other species to support the new faculty member’s research interests.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in animal science or related discipline required for Instructor position. Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track requires possession of an earned Ph.D. or other terminal degree in animal science, agriculture, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. ABD applicants will be considered. Evidence of successful college-level teaching experience is desired.
Preferred Qualifications:
Terminal degree in animal science, agriculture, or a closely related discipline. Experience in livestock management is preferred, as is experience mentoring undergraduate student research. Two or more years of college or university teaching experience is preferred.

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
