Job Description:  A Field Experience Specialist provides individual academic counseling to students on field placements to meet course and program requirements. Building positive relationships with school stakeholders across the state of Oklahoma is an essential component of this position.  A Field Experience Specialist provides administrative support for the Department of Education and the Educator Preparation office and making field placements for education candidates.

1.  Job Duties as a Field Experience Specialist include but are not limited to:

-- Schedule field placements in the public schools for all students in courses with field placement requirements.

-- Secure and organize training for public school mentor teachers.

-- Manage stipend and reimbursement processes for university supervisors and mentor teachers.

-- Process background checks on students enrolled in courses with field placements.

-- Coordinate interviews for entry to the Educator Preparation program and collect certification paperwork for teacher candidates upon completion of student teaching.

-- Provide administrative support as needed to the faculty teaching courses with field placements.

-- Attend meetings related to position, i.e., Educator Preparation Committee, local principal/superintendent meetings/boards, and departmental faculty meetings.

-- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision: The Field Experience Specialist will report to the director of Educator Preparation.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1.A positive disposition and outlook and ability to work cooperatively with the public schools.

2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

3. Ability to maintain accurate records.

4. Knowledge of computer technology and software applications in order to track students and all their field experiences.

5. A demonstrated commitment to student success.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Public school work experience, university or college level professional experience.

2. Two or more years experience working within the field of education.

3. Teaching experience is an asset. 

4. Previous experience working with diverse traditional and non-traditional student populations.
