Instructor/Assistant Professor in English Education
POSITION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Communication, English and Foreign Languages at Cameron University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or non-tenure-track Instructor to teach secondary education methods and freshman composition beginning August 2022. Specific teaching responsibilities include teaching traditional, hybrid, synchronous video, and online coursework in English Education and Composition. Course load is 12 or 15 hours per semester, depending on rank. Successful candidates will have experience teaching basic skills instruction. This position will be responsible for English Education program assessment and will be instrumental in strengthening university relations with local high schools for concurrent enrollment initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In order to be considered at the level of Assistant Professor, candidates must have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in English Education or a related field. Candidates with the master’s degree will be considered at the Instructor level. Applicants must have at least one year of teaching experience and must possess a secondary education certification. The candidate hired at instructor rank will be required to complete a terminal degree before being eligible for tenure and promotion.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Terminal degree in English Education, public school teaching experience, and at least two years of college or university teaching experience.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience.
