Job Summary:

The Accountant III applies corporate policy to accounting information by performing the following duties. Applies principles of accounting to manage the accounting process and assists with various cost audits and the year-end corporate audit.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains and oversees a strict schedule for invoicing assigned external customers, and is an external contact for questions or concerns.
  • Maintains the proper corporate structure dealing with accounting contract codes .
  • Support person to Federal and State customers and ensures compliance with testing requirements.
  • Assists with various cost audits and the year-end audit.
  • Reviews and maintains Cash Receipts and Accounts Receivable Ledgers.
  • Prepares and enters all journal entries.
  • Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances for reasonableness.
  • Performs monthly cash reconciliations and other General Ledger account reconciliations  to ensure accuracy.
  • Assists with monthly financial system closing.
  • Responsible for preparing all required Subcontractor Forms 294 & 295 for external contracts as contractually required.
  • Reconcile monthly health insurance accounts for all companies.
  • Analyzes general ledger accounts for reasonableness and coordinates monthly financial closing
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll for all applicable entities.
  • Point of contact for 403b and Money Purchase Pension plan participants and associated audits.
  • Provides backup for Accountant II.
  • Assist Director of Accounting as needed.
  • Primary responsibility of time collection system access to contract codes.
  • Protects and maintains the privacy of associate personnel records, including compensation information.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in related field
  • Five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Organizational Support - Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles.

Salary Range

$65,000.00 - $80,000.00
