RESPONSIBILITIES:   The Quality Control Business Process Improvement Manager has direct responsibility to define, develop and deploy Best Practices in Supplier Quality Engineering and In-coming Inspection across all 20+ manufacturing sites.  He/she will manage a team to develop standardized practices, enable business systems to support those practices, and monitor compliance to standard business practices across the WW manufacturing organization.  Specifically, the Manager will:

 

  • Manage a team to establish policy, procedures and standards that define how Bio-Rad interfaces with its suppliers to improve the quality of our raw materials and OEM’d products. 
    • Establish a Supplier Quality Engineering program to deploy across manufacturing sites/regions with the goal of ensuring material quality is properly tested at the supplier.
  • Evaluate in-coming inspection processes and standardize procedures, operations and criteria.
  • Establish systems to capture critical dimensions, content and performance of raw materials that is validated by suppliers and submitted with delivery of materials in a format that allows SPC.
  • Develop and deploy a system that allows flexibility in in-coming inspection based on supplier performance, historical test results and other criteria.
  • Establish a system to ensure supplier testing is aligned to Bio-Rad internal testing.
  • Develop a system to monitor compliance to global standards, and use the system to drive efficiency and improve the reliability of our processes.
      • Work with IT and the SAP COE to enable and support standardized business practices.

 QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Minimum of a BS in Engineering or Scientific background.
  • 12+ years of work experience in a manufacturing operation, and/or Materials management for a manufacturing organization preferably within healthcare or related industries
  • 5+ years of successful experience in a leadership role directly managing  technical  professionals
  • Experience working directly with suppliers to resolve technical issues, with demonstrated success.  In addition, the candidate should be able to articulate a strategy for driving continuous improvement in the supply chain, and reduce internal costs through supplier quality management.
  • Solid problem assessment and problem solving skills; SPC or LSS Certification highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global matrix environment
  • Bi or multi-lingual preferred; particularly in English, French and/or German
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Proven (internal and external) customers focus
  • Possess a strong bias for results and a high-level of attention to details
  • Develop staff to ensure continuous improvement of skills and value to the broader Global Supply Chain organization.  Identify development needs and opportunities for individuals and the team.
  • Manage performance to expectations, ensure HR policies and procedures are followed, and focal reviews, salary reviews, training and succession plans are completed as required.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and assess applicability to Bio-Rad’s WW Manufacturing.

Supplier Management and/or quality work experience;  APIC Certification preferred
