The Agriculture, BioTechnology and Food Division is seeking a Business Unit Manager to lead SRC''s state-of-the-art Fermentation Pilot Plant and the Bioprocessing Laboratory in Saskatoon. The BioProcessing Business Unit capabilities and facilities enable biotech clients to improve processes or to develop new products - such as vaccines, inoculants, and bio-control agents by scaling up laboratory processes to commercial production.
You will manage all aspects of the business including strategic and operational planning, financial and human resource management, and client interaction. You will develop the business and ensure its on-going service excellence and financial viability. You will develop and implement marketing and business plans, enter into client consultations to establish needs, and participate in the development of proposals and pricing of services. You will work closely with research engineers and technologists to design projects and deliver solutions to a variety of clients. You will provide day-to-day management of the team, including assigning duties, providing opportunities for training and development, conducting performance monitoring and evaluations, and participating in recruitment activities as required.
You have demonstrated your ability to understand technical challenges and communicate solutions. You also have experience with external client interaction. Your strength in financial management, strategic planning, along with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, position you well to deliver quality results. Your demonstrated management and customer relation skills are critical to your success in this position. Knowledge in fluid mechanics is an asset. As the ideal candidate, you are a chemical engineer with progressive experience in technology application and development, project management, staff supervision, mentorship, and safe work practices.
