To contribute to the development of new testing services at GenServe Laboratories by: Conducting method development and process streamlining under the guidance of a Sr. Development Technician or Scientist; Organizing and executing on projects in collaboration with GenServe scientific staff; Troubleshooting equipment and testing procedures as required; Ensuring that raw materials and consumables are available to execute projects; Performing purchasing and regular laboratory maintenance; Practicing precise laboratory record keeping and contributing to experimental design; Providing training and mentorship to newly hired or advancing Development Technologists; Performing simple information search(publication or internet) as required by the project. Conduct method development and streamlining of processes. Organize and execute small projects. Ensure that consumables are available to execute projects and organize purchasing and regular lab maintenance. Troubleshoot problems with results/tests as required. Troubleshoot equipment as required. Use and maintain Quality Control documentation. Manage own time and workload. Providing training and mentorship to newly hired or advancing Development Technologists. Perform simple research (publication or internet) as required by the project. In compliance with GenServe quality standards, efficiently maintain the work area and equipment to ensure that a clean, contamination-free environment is created. Responsibly use equipment, instruments and supplies. Strictly follow safety standards and procedures including the use of PPE. Participate in safety checks and audits. Attend SRC training sessions as required Understanding of laboratory safety practices and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). High attention to detail. Technical understanding of testing procedures and protocols. Strong desire to learn new things. Good communication skills and the willingness to be a team player. Team-player with strong troubleshooting skills (ability to identify and correct errors independently). Ability to coordinate own work and effectively manage time. Ability to share resources to facilitate work of others. Can maintain and monitor equipment and instruments. Capacity to troubleshoot problems with equipment and instruments. Standard math skills to calculate and record data. Strong computer skills. A technical diploma, in a related discipline. Two or more years of related experience.
