Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Plumber - Plant Maint & Repair - Full Time Evenings - Facility Mgt-Plant Main&Repair - Full-Time - 0.
In this role, the successful candidate Under general supervision assembles installs and repairs plumbing fixtures and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes In doing so studies blueprints to determine type and size of pipes to use cuts pipes along layout markings and fits and seals valves and other pipe parts Test water lines and inspects all connections for leaks Performs any and all other duties as directed by Engineering Management/Leadership whether of an emergent nature or otherwise and assists other maintenance personnel as needed
Job Responsibilities:
- Replaces broken plumbing fixtures sinks toilets hoppers etc
- Repairs malfunctioning flushometers valves and faucets and other associated plumbing utility components
- Maintains drainage systems functions using plunges snakes and other associated drainage leaking equipment
- The ability to diagnose and repair/replace as needed water circulating pumps
- Repairs fluid supply/drainage and gas distribution systems using a variety of methods such as low/high temperature soldering cutting and threading of steel pipe and cast iron no hub piping systems
- Conducts preventive maintenance tasks associated with the plumbing industry as assigned by supervisory staff
- Repairs and rebuilds medical gas outlets to ensure system operation and reliability
- Maintains an inventory of plumbing supplies to meet anticipated need of the facility
- Design and install supply and drainage systems for new plumbing installations at the facility
- Completes new installations by installing faucets sinks toilets tubs hoppers basins etc
- Installs and maintains underground sprinkler systems and components
- Requisitions pipes fittings and supplies necessary for new plumbing installations throughout the facility
- Installs medical gas including oxygen vacuum and medical air outlets valves and piping systems according to NFPA standards
- Pressurized and test newly installed systems to ensure systems reliability and integrity
- Coordinates with outside contractors and facility personnel when arranging and scheduling plumbing projects
- Ability to prioritize work requests
- Communicate with requestor or area supervisor regarding repairs needed job progress and completion of all work requests
- At beginning of each shift communicate with maintenance foreperson regarding the day agenda and goals
- Organize work cart with supplies and materials needed to complete assignments to minimize return trips to shop for supplies
- Follow safe operation guidelines of all equipment used for ground maintenance snow blowers tractors with plow grass cutting equipment etc
- Maintains cleanliness safety and ascetic qualities of all hospital grounds and building trash removal and cleaning of break areas walkways and parking lots
- Informs supervisory staff of problems with equipment to ensure repair or replacement of equipment is expedited before conditions require it to be used again
- Assists the Engineering Department with the process of snow/ice removal when necessary
- Maintains a safe work environment in and out of department by cleaning up area when jobs are complete
- Performs minor electrical
- Performs minor equipment repair
- Performs minor painting
- Responds to service calls and completes paper work upon job completion
- Assembles furniture and equipment following manufacturer instruction manuals as required
- Maintains work equipment by repairing/reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment immediately when discovered
- Repairs patient related equipment including but not limited to beds stretchers wheelchairs IV poles etc
- Performs any and all duties as directed by engineering management whether of an emergent nature or otherwise and assists other maintenance personnel as needed
- Complete daily time report at the end of each shift
- Complete purchase orders Maintains records of material ordered received and returned
- Thoroughly describes actions taken/or additional actions needed on each work order or PM ticket
- Maintains and documents required preventive maintenance testing results and ensures and documents that corrective actions for any deficiencies found during testing are complete
- Builds customer loyalty

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma equivalency Minimum of 5 years working experience in the plumbing field Analytical skills necessary to determine cause and resolution of plumbing related problems and installations Working knowledge of plumbing principles systems and local codes Ability to lift heavy objects and materials Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required cont d Ability to read and interrupt plumbing blueprints Ability to stand/walk for an entire 7 5 hour shift Knowledge and hands on experience of plumbing tools and equipment used in the industry Strong Knowledge of various piping systems and materials used for fluid supply drainage and gas distribution Including but not linked to low/high temp soldering cutting and threading steel pipe cast iron no hub piping etc

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $78,626.08 - $86,767.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
