Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Employee Health Clinician- Employee Health- Full Time 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM - Occupational Health Serv.

In this role, the successful candidate The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner promotes health and safety Complies with state and government regulations and accrediting standards by protecting patients visitors employees and physicians from communicable diseases Services include pre employment physicals screenings immunizations minor workplace injury and illness treatment and employee exposure to infectious disease counseling and follow up Maintains a system for health assessment and disease prevention detection and treatment

Job Responsibilities:

    New Hires nbsp;

    • New hire pre employment clearance including physical exam lab work TB screenings/chest rays and immunizations to ensure compliance with all hospital policies and regulatory agencies
    • Documents results in electronic medical record
    • Refer employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources

    Annual nbsp;

    • Annual employee via EMR
    • Annual employee TB screening where required nbsp;
    • Assist in planning and implementing annual Flu Vaccine Program
    • Assists in preparing Quarterly amp; Annual report of Blood Borne Pathogen exposures
    • Assists in preparing Quarterly amp; Annual Flu Vaccine Report for the Infection Control Committee CDC amp; DOH

    Exposure follow up nbsp;

    • Employee blood and body fluid exposure counseling and follow up
    • Maintains knowledge of current post exposure treatment protocols
    • Employee infectious disease TB Scabies etc exposure education treatment and follow up
    • Perform worksite walk through assessments to determine employee work processes and potential sources of illness and injury
    • Contribute to the design of health controls and surveillance of actual and potential toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment

    Assessment/Screening/Vaccination Program: nbsp;

    • Plans and implements Immunization programs for Hepatitis B Tetanus/Tdap etc and maintains records for tracking and trending
    • Provide information to employees on health maintenance results of health screenings and health promotion activities
    • Provides yearly physical examinations at employees request
    • Participate in continuing education to update knowledge of occupational health and safety including legal regulations nbsp;
    • Participates as an active member of the Infection Control Committee and reports employee compliance with TB testing exposures to blood borne pathogens and employee exposures to communicable diseases
    • Provides blood pressure amp; weight screenings and refers to primary care provider when necessary

    Employee Health Administration nbsp;

    • Recommend and maintain medical supplies and equipment necessary for the optimal functioning of the occupational health services creates/revises departmental policies and procedures recognizing the need for positive change nbsp;
    • Collaborates with Human Resources and Department Heads to ensure completion of all health requirements
    • Maintains employees health records
    • Participates as a member on hospital committees as requested

    Employee Workplace Illness/Injury nbsp;

    • Provides basic first aid for onsite injuries
    • Provides evaluation treatment amp; referrals for onsite illnesses
    • Provides Blood Pressure Screenings to Employees and refers to Primary Physician when necessary
    • Collaborates with Human Resources in evaluating employee requests for workplace accommodations
    • Completes follow up and all documentation on employee injury incident reports and provides injury prevention education

    Professional/Interpersonal/Leadership Skills: nbsp;

    • Demonstrates the interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership
    • Is able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff nbsp;
    • Demonstrates positive customer service skills and supports the Hospital s mission nbsp;
    • Reviews and investigates incident reports
    • Collaborates with Department Heads to promote quality outcomes

    Collegiality/Professionalism nbsp;

    • Develops a communication network among other departments to assure
    • appropriate delivery of patient care
    • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers
    • and other health care professionals
    • Demonstrates the ability to confront other staff members with issues nbsp;concerning patient care in order to reach a resolution
    • Accepts feedback from staff members and management for the purposes of improved patient care
    • Maintains knowledge base through participation in learning situations such as departmental meetings educational programs professional association participation journal review or committee membership
    • Fulfills the annual requirements regarding continuing education

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Current Registered Nurse RN license in New York State NYS required Current Nurse Practitioner NP license in New York State NYS required Masters Degree in Nursing Current Basic Life Support BLS certification through the American Heart Association AHA National certification as a Nurse Practitioner NP through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners AANP or the American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC Current New York State Infection Control training certification 3 5 years progressive experience in Nursing and healthcare preferably in a management role Ability to perform venipuncture Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail Strong Interpersonal and Organizational skills The analytical skills necessary to respond to any complex patient or personnel complication related to clinical presentation Demonstrates the ability to perform clinical/technical/service/administrative tasks Demonstrates knowledge of Hospital and Occupational Health policies and procedures and implements them in the delivery of medical services Demonstrates the ability to utilize computers and computer software to input and access patient information and general reports required for patient treatment and compliance status within Occupational Health Provides for the safety of patients staff and other employees and visitors in the clinical environment Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical psychosocial educational safety and related criteria appropriate to the employee/patients who present in OHS Proactively demonstrates responsibility and accountability for the timely and complete management report and tracking of clinical results Maintains security of confidential patient information and tools necessary to provide operational and clinical services Keeps documentation required for patient services and data entry secure organized up to date Utilizes time in an efficient organized manner while maintaining sensitivity to the need for patients to have sufficient time to communicate effectively Proactively participates in expansion and improvement of Occupational Health Services operations on a fluctuating schedule May be required to perform other duties as assigned or perform other duties when necessary Respects patient confidentiality privacy and dignity.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Nurse Practitioner-NYS

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $95,790.00 - $161,658.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
