Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Institutional GME Specialist - Full Time Days 09:00 AM - 05:00 PM Monday-Friday - Medical Education.

In this role, the successful candidate Reporting to the Designated Institutional Official for Graduate Medical Education, as well as, the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, administration and operations management of all activities in the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
The GME office is responsible for the oversight of thirty (30) residents within the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Also, responsible for overseeing the relationships with Undergraduate Medical Education entities and managing the operational aspects related to those relationships.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Program Director and DIO in all areas necessary for the successful administration of the Internal Medicine Residency Program:
  • Serves as an administrative liaison in the medical center for questions pertaining to the administration of all accredited residency programs on matters regarding trainee salary and benefits; malpractice insurance; federal and state licensure; visa requirements; staff credentialing.
  • Supervision of staff, as appropriate.
  • Oversight of affiliation billing (UME, etc.)
  • Creation of annual GME operating budget.
  • Oversees Resident Physician licensure and credentialing.
  • Assists the DIO in maintaining regulatory compliance with ACGME, ECFMG, NRMP, NYS and Medicare regulations, and with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Oversees preparation for ACGME reviews and educational activities related to CLER visits and the Next Accreditation System.
  • Organizes all graduate medical education committee meetings; including dissemination of minutes and follow-up on actions items.
  • Liaison in processing visas for residents and fellows.
  • Responsible for staff education as it relates to the GME office and Institutional Accreditation.
  • Collaborates with GME leadership in strategic planning, data analysis, and development and implementation of trainee education initiatives.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree preferred; Associates required with GME experience.
Possess leadership, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to effectively interact with faculty, residents, colleagues, staff administrators based on mutual respect and dedication to the mission of the residency program.
Comprehensive knowledge of the relevant NYS state and national regulations pertaining to residency training programs at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.
Broad working knowledge of ACGME regulations and RRC specific requirements for Internal Medicine and Institutional Standards.
Working knowledge of the J-1 Visa program for residency training as well as familiarity with the ECFMG process.
Knowledge of the CLER program standards.
Documented background in working with and/or establishing effective Graduate Medical Education Committee policies and procedures.
Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as an administrator in Graduate Medical Education.

Long Island Community Hospital provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $55,826.00 - $84,408.50 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
