Copy Editor

Description: The position works to check and maintain grammar and diction in all articles before publishing.

Duties:

• Use the AP Manual of Style to produce and implement standards for headlines, abbreviations, punctuation, etc., which shall be applied to Criterion articles. 
• Review articles and/or assign to Section Editors articles before publication. 
• Work on fixed content deadlines, after which content will be reviewed by Editor-in-Chief before publication.
• Oversee and communicate with Section Editors.

Stipulations:

• Must be a registered La Sierra Student
•  Must complete Student Authorization Form with Silvia Stenner (Office of Student Life)
• Must have worked as a Criterion Section Editor for at least one quarter.

Expectations: 

• Editors are not to exceed more than eight hours clocked in per-pay period (2-week pay period) 

Applying for Criterion:

• Complete HR standard application 
• Upload documents, resume, and writing sample required (cover letter and any other materials are optional). Please note that writing samples should follow these guidelines: 
  • It should be a non-creative piece.
  • Something written for a class is preferable.
  • It should be roughly 2-3 pages. 
  • It can not be something that was written for Criterion with the editorial help of the Criterion staff.

Wage Range: $16.90 - $17.40 per hour
