The Department of Education and Leadership invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position to begin on July 1, 2025. Applicants are asked to be appointed as assistant or associate professors. Applicants must demonstrate a clear potential for an established record of excellence in research, scholarship, and teaching, and meet the University’s requirements for faculty rank. 

 

The department offers the Master of Teaching (M.A.T.), Master of Arts (M.A.), Specialist in Education (Ed.S.), Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Administration and participates in the offering of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Leadership. Graduate students come primarily from the surrounding public school districts and the Pacific Union Conference. However, extension programs are being developed on other campuses.

 

The successful applicant is responsible for teaching two to three courses per quarter, conducting original research, advising, serving on various committees, and assisting and mentoring graduate students in research and dissertation processes. Preferred areas of expertise include elementary education, secondary education, Adventist education, learning theory, educational administration, and leadership. Some yearly summer teaching is expected.

 

La Sierra University assistant and associate faculty salaries range from $68,640.00- $77,724.00, respectively. Salary is determined based on established norms and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The compensation package includes an excellent array of benefits, featuring health, vision, and dental coverage. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a doctoral degree, have served in Seventh-day Adventist educational institutions, have successfully served as faculty members and/or administrators at the K-12 or higher education level, and have an established record of professional and scholarly activities, especially in Adventist education.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or be close to completion at the time of application. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree and doctorate in curriculum & instruction, educational administration, leadership, or related disciplines. A CA teaching credential and experience in K-12 public schools are strongly preferred.
