Admissions Analyst I

The Admissions Analyst I is responsible for coordinating and managing the admissions application process for prospective undergraduate and graduate students. This role ensures the timely and efficient processing of applications and supports continuous improvement of admissions operations. 

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

● Respond to and triage incoming inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.

● Oversee and process admissions applications from submission through completion.

● Supervise the day-to-day operations of the application process. 

● Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement strategies for improving admissions services and procedures. 

● Process student requests including program changes, deferments, and withdrawals. 

● Act as a liaison between the Admissions Office and internal/external stakeholders through various communication channels. 

● Support and oversee document management processes. 

● Compile and generate reports for university leadership and other stakeholders.

● Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of student workers. 

● Provide administrative and process support to University departments, schools, and leadership teams.

● Maintain and manage office inventory and supply levels. 

● Stay current on laws, policies, and best practices related to student admissions and recordkeeping. 

● Assist the director and associate director in processing documents and forms 

 

 

Qualifications and Competencies 

Education and Experience 

● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 

● 3–5 years of related experience; or 1–2 years with a Master’s degree.

● A combination of experience (5+ years) may substitute for academic qualifications.

● Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills are essential. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

● Comprehensive understanding of admissions operations and processes.

● Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. 

● Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

● Competence in analyzing and interpreting policies, data, and procedures.

● Ability to motivate, train, and lead student staff effectively. 

● Skilled in problem-solving and decision-making under minimal guidance. 

 

 

Language & Communication 

● Ability to write clear and professional reports, correspondence, and procedures. 

● Capable of presenting information and addressing inquiries from diverse audiences, including university executives, prospective students, and the public.

● Must be able to handle sensitive or complex situations with tact and diplomacy. 

 

 

Mathematical and Analytical Skills 

● Proficiency in basic statistics and mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions. 

● Capable of applying data insights to practical decision-making. 

 

 

Technology Proficiency 

● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) or Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive) 

● Experience with student information systems such as Banner or Slate is preferred. 

 

 

Licenses and Certifications 

● Valid California Driver’s License required.

● Regular interaction with departments, students, and external contacts; professionalism and confidentiality are essential. 

● Role may influence key departmental strategies, workflows, and decision-making processes. 

 

 

Wage Range: $18.07 to $20.00 per hour, plus generous benefits.
