General Maintenance Worker II

Provides maintenance services as needed and/or assigned; assisting in a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order and are available at job site when needed.

 

Duties

  • Performs maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas, including plumbing, carpentry, painting and plastering, machine servicing, electrical repairs or installations, or vehicle servicing.
  • Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
  • Disassembles machines and repairs or replaces broken parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
  • Cleans and lubricates parts.
  • Orders replacement parts.
  • Inspects completed repairs.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Requisitions new parts and equipment.
  • May repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, fans, and air conditioners.

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED and trade school or one to three years experience in a similar position.

 

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills:
No skills needed.

 

Certificates and Licenses:         

Current and valid CA Driver’s License.

The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and climb or balance.

 

Hourly Wage Range: $17.85 to $20.00 plus generous benefits
