Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity 

Are you ready to lead the technical vision behind some of Chorus’ core infrastructure platforms? We’re looking for a Technical Lead Engineer to architect scalable systems, mentor cross-functional teams, and drive DevOps excellence that enables future-ready outcomes across our operations.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, maintainable code using Java and Mulesoft.
  • Design and evolve CI/CD frameworks to support seamless delivery across integrated environments.
  • Champion DevOps practices including Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated database migration, and observability.
  • Drive incident response and root cause analysis to ensure operational resilience.
  • Mentor engineers in CI/CD, secure coding, and agile practices, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with architects and release managers to align technical delivery with enterprise standards.
  • Provide strategic reporting using DORA metrics and platform health dashboards.
  • Facilitate cross-squad knowledge sharing and lead Communities of Practice focused on integration and cloud-native technologies

This opportunity combines leadership, hands-on technical development, and a strong focus on operational excellence, offering you a chance to make a significant impact across our Core platforms. 

 

Ō Wheako, ō Pūkenga | Your Experience

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring advanced technical skills, leadership abilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement to effectively oversee operations and guide junior team members.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience in Software Development, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Proven expertise in Java and modern software engineering practices.
  • Advanced experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Bitbucket) and pipeline design.
  • Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
  • Experience with observability tools like Dynatrace.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and performance optimisation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence strategic technical direction.
