Tool & Die Technician

·                                                     Wears all required safety equipment and ensures area and environment is safe

·            Perform preventative maintenance as required

·            Clean and organize area, keep area free of clutter and safety hazards – 6S

·            Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted

·            Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds

·            Heat-treats and welds parts as required

·            Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining

·            Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.  Uses hand tools of the trade

·            Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.  Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same

·            Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required

·            Assists other tool room personnel with troubleshooting skills or ideas

·            Assists Press Operators with troubleshooting tooling during production runs

·            High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required

·            High degree of attention and care required, preventing injury to self and others when operating machine tools.

·            Possess good troubleshooting skills

·            Able to pull and set-up tooling

·            Must have valid forklift operator’s license (or be willing to be trained before starting job assignment)

·            Process hourly/daily paperwork as required

·            Does in-press P.M.’s as scheduled

·            Other duties as required

• Completion of formal apprenticeship program with journeyman card or similar experience
