Overview:

Xavier University is seeking a full-time Plumber.  Key duties include performing preventative maintenance, responding to service calls, troubleshooting issues in various building systems, and managing work orders through the campus's maintenance system. The role requires a strong understanding of plumbing principles and safety standards.  This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on the university’s physical environment and support its mission to educate each student intellectually, morally, and spiritually within a Jesuit Catholic, liberal arts tradition, fostering lives of solidarity, service, and success.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain: 
    Install and repair plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets), pipes, and other plumbing materials throughout campus buildings. 
     
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose: 
    Investigate and fix problems in plumbing and related systems, such as water and drainage. 
     
  • Preventative maintenance: 
    Perform scheduled maintenance on plumbing and mechanical systems to prevent future issues and ensure continuous operation. 
     
  • Work order management: 
    Complete and manage work orders using the campus's computer maintenance management system.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational or technical training is preferred. 
     
  • Experience in plumbing, maintenance, or a similar facilities role is typically required, often 3-5 years. 
     
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with standard plumbing tools. 
     
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting, working from ladders, or in confined spaces. 
     
  • A valid driver's license
