Xavier University’s University Library seeks a collaborative and methodical individual to join our team of technical services professionals in the position of Technical Services Specialist. This position works collaboratively with other librarians and staff to support e-resource and physical resource access by maintaining accurate holdings in the library online public access catalog and other online access systems, updating records in the library services platform (LSP), resolving issues with resource access, and collecting usage statistics. In particular, this position assists with electronic resource access operations for all electronic content (e.g., books, periodicals, media) and processes and maintains the print periodical, newspaper, standing order and microform collections by coordinating the check-in, processing, and claiming of all current serials and through the planning and execution of projects related these collections. Additionally, this position assists with resource acquisition and processing by receiving materials, recording invoices, and assessing damaged materials for replacement, and assists with copy cataloging and physical processing of new materials.
General Job duties:
- Processes electronic resources throughout the resource life-cycle.
- Coordinates processing and maintaining print periodical, newspaper, standing order, and microform collections.
- Assists with copy cataloging, physical processing, and acquisitions tasks.
- Hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines 1-4 student assistants.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- One-year relevant library work experience
- Ability to work in a team, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate clearly
- Experience using MS Office, Word, and Excel

Desired Qualifications:
- Understanding of library systems (e.g., Alma) and library knowledgebase systems
- Familiarity with MARC records and continuing resource cataloging
- Demonstrated experience with overseeing projects and meeting established deadlines
- Supervisory experience
