Xavier University, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is accepting applications on a rolling basis for an Adjunct Instructor in the Department of Primary and Middle Childhood Education. This role presents a unique opportunity for professionals to gain valuable teaching experience or to give back to the Xavier community by sharing their expertise. The salary for a three-credit-hour course is $2,400. Contracts for adjunct faculty members are issued on a semester basis. Candidates must be dedicated to graduate or undergraduate teaching and demonstrate excellence in their field. The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D, EdD. or Master’s degree in Education or related discipline;
  • A current Ohio teaching license;
  • A minimum of three years of professional work experience in the area of your teaching assignment;
  • Availability to teach during the school day (Mondays, 12pm-2:30pm).

Duties include:

  • Teaching Primary Science Methods, an in-person course covering science methods in grades PK-5 (potential to teach other courses in the future if desired);
  • Effective, engaged learner-centered instruction in an inclusive classroom environment;
  • Effective planning and preparation of classes to support student success;
  • Administration of appropriate course assessments designed adequately to measure
    student’s learning;
  • Use of Xavier’s campus-wide Content Management System, Canvas, to provide course
    information and maintain an electronic record of student progress;
  • Working cooperatively with members of the School of Education.
