Facilities/Building Maintenance Superintendents

Xavier University’s Office of Physical Plant is seeking applications for two Facilities/Building Maintenance Superintendents. The Superintendent’s primary focus is on supporting Residential buildings or Athletics with secondary responsibility to assist the other Superintendents. Both positions report to the Associate Director, Maintenance and Operations.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for the preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of Xavier University’s equipment and facilities, with a focus on HVAC and Electrical systems.
- Provide leadership and oversight to a team of skilled craftsperson and specialty contractors.
- Plan and schedule daily assignments and workflow. Serve as the primary contact for daily scheduling of physical plant personnel including emergencies and off-standard situations; available on a 24/7 on-call basis.
- Coordinate and schedule outside contractors for specialized work not performed by inhouse craftsperson.
- Assess workforce to provide optimal team performance, resolve challenges within staff and provide specific recommendations for training.
- Provide hands on support as needed in field to fix the problem.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree or vocational/technical school degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 year of relevant experience.
- Universal refrigeration certification.
- Effective verbal and written communicators.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (approximate maximum 50 pounds), and work from ladders, scaffolding and aerial lift devices.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and driving record deemed insurable under Xavier’s policies and an available personal vehicle.
