Xavier University is seeking an Assistant Director of International Recruitment to join our team. The Assistant Director of International Recruitment serves as the initial point of contact for international undergraduate applicants and their families. The Assistant Director develops relationships with constituencies to convey information about the university’s admissions policies, academic programs and specific features of Xavier’s campus. In conjunction with the Director of International Recruitment, the Assistant Director is responsible for establishing and managing efficient processes and procedures for all prospective undergraduate international students. This includes proactive communication with students and families from multiple countries and cultures, application management, and international visit planning. In collaboration with the Director and Associate Director of International Recruitment, the Assistant Director is also responsible for managing assigned international recruitment territories.
The Assistant Director is part of the Office of Admission and works in collaboration with the Center for International Education, which includes International Student and Scholar Services, and Education Abroad. Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience with international admissions and recruitment, as well as cross-cultural communication skills. This position requires independence and self-direction within a defined organizational strategy. International travel to various countries throughout the year is expected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop relationships with constituencies to convey information about the university’s admissions policies, academic programs and specific features of Xavier’s campus.
- Ensure that applicants are receiving appropriate communication, in line with respective cultural and language background, throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
- Responsible for the initial screening and assessing of all international undergraduate applications from assigned territory regarding completeness (e.g., documents needed for I20 issuance, international credentials, language proficiency), and review for admission.
- Maintain constant communication with applicants and in-country representatives about the status of documents and clearly explain requirements.
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory and travel internationally in coordination with Director of International Recruitment.
- Create and host zoom sessions, virtual events that may occur during weekend or evenings to accommodate for time zone differences.
- Coordinate international recruitment related travel and events, including incoming travel for campus visits and familiarization trips.
- Hire, train and supervise student employees to assist the international recruitment team.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in university admission/enrollment management, international education, customer service, or similar
- Ability to present dynamically and confidently in front of a variety of audiences; outgoing personality; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment
- Shows attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Demonstrates an ability to exhibit empathy and enthusiasm in interactions with students, parents, faculty and staff.
- Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products, and Slate
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be covered by University insurance; valid passport or ability to obtain one; ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in field of International Education, Education, MBA, Marketing or related
- One to three years of international education and / or admissions related experience
- Experience with foreign high school transcript evaluation and GPA conversion
