Xavier University, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is accepting applications for an Adjunct Instructors in The Department of Economics on a rolling basis. This role presents a unique opportunity for Ph.D. students and professionals to gain valuable teaching experience, or to give back to the Xavier community by sharing their expertise. This role offers a salary of $2,025 for a 3-credit hour course. Contracts for adjunct faculty members are issued on a semester basis.

Candidates must be dedicated to graduate or undergraduate teaching and demonstrate excellence in their field. The successful candidate will contribute to our commitment to excellence in teaching and student engagement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Economics or related discipline;
  • OR a Master’s degree in Economics with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in Economics or a related discipline, and a minimum of three years of professional work experience in the area of your teaching assignment;
  • OR a Master’s degree in Business Administration or a primary business discipline, and a minimum of 18 hours of graduate coursework in economics, and a minimum of three years of professional work experience in the area of your teaching assignment.

Duties include:

  • Effective, engaged learner-centered instruction in an inclusive classroom environment
  • Effective planning and preparation of classes to support student success
  • Administration of appropriate course assessments designed adequately to measure student’s learning
  • Use of Xavier’s campus-wide Content Management System, Canvas, to provide course information and maintain an electronic record of student progress
  • Working cooperatively with members of the department
