The School of Psychology at Xavier University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning August 2021. The position will replace a retiring faculty member and will support our strong graduate programs and large undergraduate major. Duties include teaching and supervision in our APA-accredited clinical psychology Psy.D.program. Therefore, candidates for these positions should have earned a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an APA-accredited clinical or counseling psychology program and must also be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Ohio with expectation of Ohio license within one year of hire. The Psy.D. program has three primary tracks, which are Child and Adolescent, Individuals with Severe and Chronic Psychopathology (ISCP), and Clinical Health Psychology across the Lifespan (HCPALS). Preference will be given to the candidate most qualified to immediately contribute to department needs as described below.
The School of Psychology has been active within Xavier University in supporting initiatives related to diversity, inclusion, and equity, and will give strong preference to candidates who directly contribute to that strength through the focus of their research and teaching, such as research with historically underrepresented minority groups. Successful candidates will teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in and qualified to teach statistics and/or research methods courses at either level, and/or personality assessment at the graduate level. Faculty activities include establishing an independent research program, research mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels, service within the School of Psychology, and providing clinical supervision to Psy.D. students. Clinical supervision could involve directly training and overseeing therapeutic and/or assessment services provided by Psy.D. students to members of the Xavier student body in our on-campus training clinic, and we therefore welcome individuals with experience in working with college-age students and the common areas in which they struggle, such as eating disorders, substance use problems, culture/ethnicity/race considerations, and ADHD. The School of Psychology includes and welcomes clinical and counseling psychologists of various theoretical orientations.
In addition to our APA-accredited clinical doctoral (Psy.D.) program, we have a large undergraduate major and a Master’s program in Industrial-Organizational psychology.
