World Vision is hiring a Director of Risk Management and Audit to serve in the Legal and Compliance division.

Reports to:   Associate Vice President, Governance, Risk and Compliance

Location: Remote

Required Experience:   Bachelor's degree or equivalent (eight years) work experience. Advanced professional risk, audit or compliance certification required, such as CRM, CRMA, CRISC, CPA, and CIA.  In addition to education or educational equivalent,requires 5 years of senior risk management experience; 2 years of experience in GRC or compliance-related roles in legal, audit, compliance, risk management, business administration, finance fields.

Work Authorization:Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

Estimated Salary Range: $116,800-$133,100

 

The Job

The Director, Risk Management and Audit will provide enterprise risk leadership by directing, evaluating, and monitoring enterprise risk activities.  S/he will prepare and implement an annual assurance and internal audit plan, reviewing various programs and processes throughout World Vision US to ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures and external best practices and regulatory requirements in an operationally efficient manner.  Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.

 

Responsibilities Will Include

  • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program.  Work with senior leadership to identify risks, assess their likelihood and impact, develop mitigation action plans, and regularly report to management and the Audit and Finance Committee progress against risks.
  • Establish risk management, assurance and audit priorities under the direction of the Audit & Finance Committee of the Board of Directors with input from senior management.
  • Prepare and implement an annual risk-based financial, operational and programmatic assurance plan to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor World Vision US operational and strategic risks, to comply with regulatory requirements, and to align with internal policies and procedures.  Monitor compliance with internal controls and evaluate whether existing internal controls/practices are working effectively.  Accountable for timely completion of projects. 
  • Prepare enterprise risk management and assurance reports for management and the Audit & Finance Committee and present findings and recommendations to the Audit and Finance Committee and senior leadership as appropriate.  Coordinate an ongoing review process that monitors the implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Promote a risk-aware culture through training, communication, and engagement initiatives that empower staff at all levels to identify and manage risk.
  • Hire, fire, train, counsel, evaluate, and recommend salary increases and promotions for those under direct supervision.
  • Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.

 

You Bring These Skills

·       Demonstrates current working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), knowledge of nonprofit accounting, gift-in-kind accounting, auditing standards, financial reporting and cash management, as well as enterprise and operational risk management practices to ensure integrity and organizational resilience.

·       Counsels management and staff on risks and helps them increase their understanding and application of principles and corporate policies and obligations.

·       Effectively identifies safeguards to avoid fraud and protect World Vision assets.

 

 

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent (eight years) work experience. Advanced professional risk, audit or compliance certification required, such as CRM, CRMA, CRISC, CPA, and CIA.  In addition to education or educational equivalent,requires 5 years of senior risk management experience; 2 years of experience in GRC or compliance-related roles in legal, audit, compliance, risk management, business administration, finance fields. Knowledge of auditing practices and procedures is required. Gateway 2 Grants and TOT certification required within 1 year of hire. Familiarity with GRC frameworks (e.g., OCEG, COSO, NIST, ISO) is a plus. 

 

Salary Range & Benefits

WVUS Pay Grade Level: 228

Estimated hiring range is $116,800-$133,100.

This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Federal Way and Washington D.C. offices. A different range may apply based on your work location.

Job offers are based on relevant qualifications and pay equity.
