World Vision US is hiring a Lead Accountant to serve in the Finance division. This position is ideal for a highly motivated accounting professional seeking a pathway to managerial roles within our finance division.

Estimated Salary: $82,700 - $100,000
Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience (eight years) in accounting. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 6 years work experience in private/corporate accounting experience or 4 years where work experience includes at least 2 years in public accounting.
Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.
Estimated Salary Range: $82,700 - $100,000
Perform complex accounting functions requiring full professional competency and specific experience in public sector funding, intercompany accounting, and audit support. Assign, review, and oversee the work of accounting staff members. Consult with internal business customers to implement new activities in compliance with applicable regulations. Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Keep Christ central in our individual and corporate lives. Attend and participate in the leadership of devotions, weekly Chapel services, and regular prayer.
Work with appropriate government agencies, donors, and/or funding sources for the filing of required forms, reports, schedules, and activity reports and in response to required audits.
Assist with regulatory reporting as applicable. Research authoritative literature for proper accounting treatment under US GAAP and Uniform Guidance requirements.
Track and report activities, preparing consolidated financial statements and developing models and forecasts for senior leadership to support strategic decision making.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with managers and staff.
Oversee and monitor projects assigned to accountants and senior accountants, reviewing progress and evaluating results.
Address questions/issues raised by auditors, provide additional documentation as needed.
Review and interpret financial reports, ensuring compliance. Perform balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position variance analyses.
Reconcile income streams such as: restricted and unrestricted funds, grant funding, trust income, and government funding. Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger account balances.
Plan and execute cyclical and annual processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
As needed, develop and implement new accounting/financial procedures.
Develop a role appropriate understanding of the international World Vision partnership and use this context to inform communications, actions, decisions and solutions.
Remain current and increase knowledge in related areas utilizing self-study and/or continuing education efforts.
Perform other duties as required.
Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team.
Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.
You Bring These Skills
Coach and mentor accounting staff members.
Collaborate with audit staff on annual independent audits.
Provide technical assistance and training to internal and external World Vision offices and departments in area of specialization ensuring compliance to all legal and/or funding requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience (eight years) in accounting. In addition to education or education equivalent, requires a minimum of 6 years work experience in private/corporate accounting experience or 4 years where work experience includes at least 2 years in public accounting. Work experience must include financial statement preparation, audit support, and familiarity with Uniform Guidance cost principles for public grants. Strong technology skills are critical, especially expertise with Microsoft Excel. Previous supervisory experience highly preferred. Accreditations such as certified public accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant preferred.
WVUS Pay Grade Level: 225
Expected hiring range $82,700 - $100,000
The full salary range for this role is $78,400- $121,500
This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. and Seattle-area office. A different range may apply based on your work location.
