Reports to: Sr. Risk Corporate Communications Manager

Location:  Remote from within the U.S. Hybrid if near Seattle or Washington, D.C.

Required Experience:  Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, related field, or equivalent (eight years) experience.  In addition to education or education equivalent, at least five (5) years of progressive experience in journalism, public relations, or communications, with at least two (2) years focused specifically on risk or crisis communications required.

Work Authorization:Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

Travel:  US domestic and overseas travel may be required, up to 15%

Estimated Salary Range:  $89,680- $110,000

The Job

The Risk Corporate Communications Manager is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and mitigating reputational risks. Contribute to the development and implementation of crisis communications plans by working with key internal and external stakeholders. Serve as a World Vision spokesperson to news organizations and external audiences. Develop and implement media and public relations programs addressing the work of World Vision. Help guide executive messaging and strategy during reputational challenges. Help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies. Personify the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  • Assist with developing integrated messaging that resonates with key stakeholders—donors (including high-net-worth individuals), U.S. Government partners, media outlets, influencers, church leaders, and the broader public.
  • Navigate multifaceted issues where risks may involve legal, ethical, reputational, and operational implications. Quickly evaluate evolving scenarios, applying discernment in ambiguous contexts, and advising senior leadership accordingly. This includes drafting statements, questions and answers, contingency plans, and messaging grids in response to media, donor, and church engagement channels.
  • Gather facts, analyze complex information, and advise senior leaders with risk communication advice accordingly.
  • Conduct regular media monitoring, generate coverage reports, and identify relevant trends in coverage.
  • Help protect the trust of external audiences and reinforce the organization’s integrity and transparency in times of challenge.
  • Support the translation of strategic objectives into operational responses that balance faith, fact, and institutional resilience.  
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and coaching to public relations professionals.
  • Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as a member of a team. 
  • Maintain awareness of corporate goals, objectives, organizational announcements, and activities. Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

·       Advising and Coaching: Counsels management and staff on risks and helps them increase their understanding and application of principles and corporate policies and obligations.

 

Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, related field, or equivalent (eight years) experience.

·       In addition to education or education equivalent, at least five (5) years of progressive experience in journalism, public relations, or communications, with at least two (2) years focused specifically on risk or crisis communications required.

·       Understanding of U.S. media dynamics is essential, including experience responding to national media inquiries, shaping narratives during times of scrutiny, and building trusted relationships with journalists under pressure.

·       Experience working in high-pressure media environments and proven experience in executive-level communication including experience mitigating risk issues, facilitating collaboration with key stakeholders, and exceptional written communications skills are essential. 

·       Experience working in a large nonprofit, faith-based organization, or comparable complex institution preferred.

·       Background in journalism or media engagement with major U.S. outlets strongly preferred

·       Personal alignment with Christian values and a demonstrated ability to integrate faith-based principles into communications approaches.

·       Ability to work confidently in sensitive, values-driven environments—integrating their Christian faith with communications expertise to foster unity, calm, and clarity in complex situations.

·       Ability to demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, initiative, and trustworthiness during high-visibility crises.

 

Salary Range & Benefits

  • WVUS Pay Grade Level: 226 
  • Expected hiring range: $89,680- $110,000. 
  • The full salary range for this role is $84,600- $135,400. 
  • This range applies to locations with a market similar to our Federal Way and Washington D.C. offices. A different range may apply based on your work location.
  • Job offers are based on relevant qualifications and pay equity.
