Location: United States. The role can be based in over 40 states.

Reports To: Senior Business Development Manager

Required Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years). Requires 3-5 years of work experience in project management or related field. Work experience must include at least one year of previous project leadership experience.

Work Authorization:Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. for any employer.

Travel: Up to 10% of time both in development and fragile contexts.

Typical Hiring Range: $75,000 - $85,000 a year. 

The Job:

World Vision is looking for a Project Manager to steer the World Food Program portfolio. You will be a vital member of the Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs team managing a global portfolio of food security projects implementing multiple modalities to combat food insecurity.

The Project Manager will assess appropriate strategies for program selection in coordination with internal and external stakeholders. They will represent World Vision through external engagement with WFP and peer organizations. They will ensure compliance to donor standards, develop tools, and provide capacity building for funded projects. 

The Project Manager will help carry out World Vision’s Christian organizational mission, vision, and strategies, personifying the ministry of World Vision by witnessing to Christ and ministering to others through life, deed, word and sign.  

Your Responsibilities Will Include: 

  1. Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, devotions, chapel, prayer, worship); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  2. Responsible for maintaining WFP internal tracking documents and liaising with WV finance team members on revenue received.
  3. Organize necessary documentation for new and amended WFP projects.
  4. Support grants from other UN donors as applicable, including UNICEF, UNOCHA, and UNHCR.
  5. Work with WVUS teammates and WV country offices to resolve issues and provide updates.
  6. Work to organize and interpret a large amount of data and financial information.
  7. Respond to requests for information by senior-level leaders.
  8. Work to forecast portfolio acquisitions, revenue, and burn rates.
  9. Lead on continuous improvement of WFP systems and processes.
  10. Collaborate with WVUS teammates on other emergency-focused programs.
  11. Remain up to date on current events and dynamics in portfolio countries.
  12. Occasional travel within the U.S. for team meetings, and internationally for project site visits.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned. 

You Bring These Skills: 

  • Sector Knowledge:  Experience with food and cash/voucher programming in an emergency setting is preferred.
  • Donor Experience:  Previous experience with WFP emergency projects, preferably with food and cash programming (Emergency Food Security Programming, BHA) is desired. A working knowledge of modalities around food assistance, general trends, global awareness of food insecurity hot spots would be expected.
  • Program Management: Previous experience in end-to-end management of relief programs that transform communities in need. Understanding how to acquire and integrate resources to support program implementation. Drive for quality results and success; demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving goals; persists despite obstacles.
  • Experience in humanitarian standards and settings: Familiar with humanitarian settings, their challenges, and the global standards and best practices for humanitarian response.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities in a high paced work environment.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with people from other cultures, religions, and geographies; respects and adapts to other cultures and seeks opportunities to enhance relationships. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (eight years).
  • In addition to education or education equivalent, requires 3-5 years of work experience in project management or related field.
  • Work experience must include at least one year of previous project leadership experience.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Experience managing grants from UN agencies, U.S. Government agencies, institutional foundations, or individual mega donors, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel. 

Additional Skills We Are Interested In: 

  • Proficiencies in Power BI and/or Salesforce
  • Additional Language (i.e. French, Spanish, Arabic)
  • Experience working with collaborative working groups (InterAction, ICVA, etc.)
  • Strong finance background: Ability to forecast based on historical trends, monitor burn rates, extensive excel knowledge.

Salary Range & Benefits: 

  • Pay Grade: 224
  • The full range for this position is $71,300 - $110,500.
  • Typical hiring range is $75,000 - $85,000 a year.
  • This applies to locations with a market similar to our Washington D.C. office.
  • A different range may apply based on your work location.
