Location: US Remote from Southern California

Must have experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent (eight years) work experience. In addition to education or educational equivalent, requires work experience in fundraising or sales; 3 years.

 

01 The Job

As the Philanthropy Area Representative, you will maximize World Vision’s ministry by developing long-term, effective relationships with individuals and foundations capable of providing $25,000 or more annually in financial resources, with the goal of providing them with a deeper understanding of holistic needs in the world, and boldly challenging them to respond sacrificially to those needs through the ministry of World Vision. Manage and coordinate the integrated regional fundraising efforts for Major Gifts Program, National Accounts and Gift Planning and help carry out our Christian organization’s mission, vision, and strategies.   • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Actively participate in and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.
  • Responsible for raising a minimum of $500,000 within the first year, and a minimum of $1,000,000 each fiscal year thereafter through private special funding, multi-year commitments, and gift planning. Recommend donation of appreciated assets whenever possible.
  • Plan and implement account management strategy to ensure assigned accounts are given the appropriate amount of attention each year.
  • Develop long-term relationships through personal interactions with donors on assigned area of the country and strive to connect donor interests with the WV mission and ministry.
  • Network through current donors to locate new giving prospects who can make major gifts.
  • Take qualified donors/prospects on trips to WV project sites to inform them about specific projects and encourage them to give at major donor levels.
  • Work with gift planning staff to set up donor-advised funds, stock gifts, wills, etc.
  • Represent WVUS in speaking engagements that are directly related to major gift development and media interviews to spread the word about WV’s domestic and international ministry.
  • Attend and participate in job related training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
  • Keep informed of organizational announcements, activities and changes via regular reading of the WVUS Intranet and other corporate communication tools.

  • Build lasting, highly engaged relationships with high-net-worth individuals on behalf of those we serve.
  • Raising $500,000 in annual financial support within the first year.
  • Has developed rapport with internal staff.
  • Inviting high net worth individuals to join in our historic Campaign.
  • Transforming the lives of the poor, our donors, and your own.

05 You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (eight years) work experience.
  • In addition to education or educational equivalent, requires work experience in fundraising or sales; 3 years.

Preferred Skills We're Looking for:

  • Experience with individual donor fundraising of $25,000 or more.
  • Knowledge of gift planning is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage major accounts.
  • Experience with developing new prospects.
  • Enjoys networking and building strong relationship.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
    • Must be able to travel (up to 30%) to meet with donors.

06 Salary Range & Benefits 

The full range for this position is $71,300 - $110,500 annually. This applies to locations with a market similar to our U.S. HQ in the Greater Seattle area. A different range may apply based on your work location. Typical hiring range is$80,000 - $90,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on relevant job qualifications and pay equity. World Vision employees see our Salary Administration Guidelines and My Life My Benefits pages on our organization intranet known as The Vine.
