Wilshire is seeking a talented and motivated team player to join its Engineering & Technology team. This position will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining Wilshire’s database of investment management firms and products. Candidates that characterize themselves as being self-driven, having a high attention to detail, and can thrive in both an individual and team environment would be well suited for this highly empowered and rewarding opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of SQL Server investment databases through the full product lifecycle, from design to production release.
  • Apply relational data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation projects meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Design and develop new database schema objects such as tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, functions, triggers, jobs, etc. while supporting legacy database schema currently supporting production environment
  • Recommend, implement, and support the database architecture, including deciding whether clustering, mirroring, and replication are recommended to ensure optimal reliability and scalability.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance metrics to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve SQL Server performance issues using profile traces and other methodologies.
  • Automate data import and update processes, track issues, and maintain system documentation.
  • Provide technical mentorship and cross-training to other team members.
  • Oversee database backup, recovery, and migration.
  • Participate in the validation process through unit and integration testing and providing bug fixes.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • 5+ years MS SQL Server development and administration experience.
  • Experience in database design, data modeling, and development.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Experience with database backup, restore, replication and recovery models.
  • Experience working with Windows Server, including Active Directory.
  • Translate business requirements and specifications into detailed system design specifications.
  • Develop, analyze, troubleshoot and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
  • Experience developing and utilizing temporal tables
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with ability to manage competing demands.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels, including the executive level.
  • Provide creative approach to problem-solving, combined with ability to focus on details while maintaining the “big picture” view.
  • Flexible team player, demonstrating a “get-it-done” personality.
  • Ability to self-organize and work independently in a dynamic environment.
