Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is in search of an an ambitious and talented professional to serve as a Project Engineer within our Commercial Land Development team in our Las Vegas, NV office. A Project Engineer is expected to work on a team to provide high level project designs and coordination efforts with development clients.  The primary responsibilities of the position will include the design, direction, and coordination of a design team on designated civil engineering projects to ensure client goals & objectives are being accomplished within the jurisdictional parameters. The ideal candidate will have several years of experience in the design, permitting, and construction management of commercial, municipal, institutional, hospitality, industrial, and park projects throughout the Las Vegas valley and possess the ability to clearly communicate and work well within a collaborative team environment while adhering to general office standards. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare and review civil engineering design documents which may include site layouts, roadway design, grading and storm drainage, water and sanitary sewer systems, and other site design elements required on a per-project basis
  • Strong communication skills with team members and clients
  • Ability to work well within a collaborative team environment. Demonstrates good active listening skills and a willingness to compromise to the ideas of others when the situation necessitates
  • Outgoing, friendly, approachable demeanor (team player)
  • Ability to review local zoning codes and generate preliminary entitlement packages that satisfy process and permitting requirements
  • Leadership skills and the ability to meet deadlines and provide high-quality service to the client
  • Ability to prepare detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and to provide clear and concise directives to Graduate Engineers and Designers on the project team
  • Identifies applicable codes, standards, or other design requirements
  • Tracks progress of an assigned task against a defined schedule and budget
  • Detail oriented but also flexible enough to see the big picture/conceptual aspects of a project
  • Coordinates with other project staff and associated disciplines and/or sub-consultants such as drainage, traffic, water/wastewater, structural and survey
  • Coordinates with Client, architect, governmental agencies, utility providers or other outside agencies
  • Performs field reviews and other assessments for use in design
  • Reviews plans and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents and estimates
  • Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
  • Possesses a sense of pride and accountability for the work performed

Required Experience

  • Proficient in Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Project organization and time management skills
  • 5+ years of experience in land development engineering
  • P.E. license in Nevada or able to obtain within 6 months of hire
