Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to join our transportation infrastructure team in Appleton, WI. Our ideal candidate will have 7 or more years of roadway design and project management experience supporting public sector projects. This position is responsible for complex engineering design tasks as well as marketing, business development, client contact, and the growth of a roadway design team. 

Duties and Responsibilities:


• Manage the design and delivery of projects in a profitable manner
• Oversee the technical aspects of various projects
• Supervise the work of engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project
• Develop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources
• Prepare, maintain, coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects
• Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
• Complete monthly project accounting and invoicing
• Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures
• Participate in contract bidding and administration and provides limited observation during construction
• Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies
• Write proposals and participate and/or lead interviews
• Grow and mentoring staff.
• Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners

Required Skills

• Ability to manage staff and direct resources effectively
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to manage roadway projects in a profitable manner
• Understanding of alternative delivery methods
• Extensive knowledge of geometric design and other related design elements
• Knowledge and experience with the full roadway project lifecycle from preliminary studies through final design
• General knowledge of construction with experience providing construction phase services
• Track record of successfully winning and delivering work
• Experience preparing proposals, scopes of work, and qualification packages
• Ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staff
• Able to follow directions and guidelines for the firm’s policies, practices, and procedures

Required Experience

  • BS in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university
  • Familiarity with DOT policies and procedures would be a plus
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Wisconsin (or capable of obtaining within 4 months)
  • 7 or more years of roadway design experience as a licensed Professional Engineer
