SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Human Resources Manager to provide hands-on HR support across key functional areas, including employee relations, engagement, benefits administration, talent acquisition, and EEO compliance in accordance with WR’s quality management system and overall company policies, objectives, and business goals.


Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborates with the Director, HR on HR and Talent Acquisition initiatives and planning to solve complex challenges through people-oriented solutions.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises HR and Talent Acquisition policies/procedures to ensure efficient operations for the organization and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; proactively identifies process improvements.
  • Responds to employee and managerial inquiries related to HR and Talent Acquisition policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a trusted partner and provides HR and Talent Acquisition policy guidance and interpretation to employees and managers.
  • Interprets employment laws and regulations and advises employees and management accordingly.
  • Helps develop, coordinate, and implement initiatives and communications with employees and managers. 
  • Administers company disciplinary policies and procedures; provides related coaching and guidance to managers.
  • Fosters a positive employee relations environment and professionally handles employee relations concerns; resolves conflicts, conducts investigations, drafts related documentation, and recommends appropriate responses and actions to management.
  • Assists in the development and management of  Performance Management processes and procedures.
  • Guides and coaches management on providing performance feedback and developing performance improvement plans.
  • Administers and manages the company’s employee benefits, workplace accommodations, worker’s compensation, and leave management programs.
  • Responds to unemployment claims and represents the company at Virginia Employment Commission hearings.
  • Stays abreast of current and proposed labor laws and regulations affecting HR to ensure organizational compliance. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day responsibilities and development of select HR personnel, maintaining a collaborative and engaging team environment. 
  • Acts as a liaison and collaborates with other functional areas on HR-related activities and initiatives.
  • Reviews and processes job offers in accordance with company procedures and practices.
  • Develops, prepares, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc reports related to employee personnel information and other HR-related data; tracks HR metrics.
  • Prepares compliance-related documents and prepared and files government reports.
  • Prepares for and supports internal and external audits.
  • Participates in the evaluation and development of HR technology to align with present and future needs and changing business requirements.
  • Responsible for selecting, training, developing, and evaluating performance of subordinates.
  • Manages the company’s onboarding program and separation processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires and exiting employees. 
  • Conducts new hire onboarding and separations, as needed. 
  • Ensures HR files are maintained in accordance with regulatory and organizational guidelines.

 

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or similar.
  • Seven (7)+ years of general HR experience including personnel management; experience with a Federal government contractor (preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws and legal requirements that affect HR management. 
  • Applied knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including employee relations, benefits, compliance, compensation, and talent acquisition. 
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully execute HR initiatives and goals. 
  • Demonstrated experience handling employee relations issues. 
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain the security of company confidential and business sensitive information.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities. 
  • HRIS experience; ADP preferred. 
  • Organized with attention to detail. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • PHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
