Job Description
The Card Services Specialist is responsible for providing ensuring the credit union’s compliance regarding internal controls, operating procedures, regulatory requirements, contract related settlement requirements and industry standards of the Cards Program and Tokenized Card Products and Services. The Card Service Specialist supports the enterprise serving as a payments expert and aiding in operations to include daily, weekly, and monthly cards reporting. They serve as a liaison, working with the applicable cards vendor to address member and partner concerns.
1) Card Services Specialist functions included but not limited to (60%):
a. Balancing of all card related transaction processing within the credit union’s plastic card program. This includes the posting of automated teller transactions (ATM), credit and debit card member purchase and credit vouchers, member draft returns completed at other financial institutions, and payment exceptions received by the card processor. Support to internal WPCU partners and members.
b. Card maintenance, transaction research, and Regulation E related notices that support the credit union Debit Card Overdraft Program.
c. Support with the review of user rights for applications related to Card Services for the credit union.
d. Support the administration of tokenized services related to the credit union card program.
e. Perform system updates related to corporate credit card management.
f. Analyze card ordering exception reports to determine appropriate action is taken on every item and complete member notification as needed.
g. Properly identify potential risk and suspicious activity and report findings to the Card Services Manager and Fraud Risk Management Team. Performs reviews in a safe and sound manner according to applicable practices, regulations, laws, and procedures. Prompt, efficient, and accurate service is required.
h. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed. Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated.
2) Serves as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for more complex issues and research for the credit union’s card products, emerging payments and vendor support. Performs quality control checks, quality assurance, and beta testing support. (20%)
3 3) Processes account maintenance and payments to the WPCU and myCUmortgage corporate accounts, create and send out corporate communications, process member center and corporate gift card requests, fulfill card expedite requests, and process international travel notifications. (10%)
4) Creates and maintains procedures and resources that comply with all federal state or applicable regulations under the direction of the Card Services Manager. Provide training of Service Delivery Partners regarding their area of expertise. (10%)
Required Skills
A. Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills:
1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some post-secondary education is helpful.
2. At least two years in the retail financial services industry is required with prior demonstrated problem-solving skills.
3. Excellent telephone skills and techniques as well as written and verbal communication skills.
4. Possess a high degree of working and technical knowledge in the areas of cards, mobile card products/services, emerging payments, and applicable regulations.
5. Ability to meet deadlines while applying detail-oriented work habits.
6. Must be able to learn and apply a variety of software applications.
7. Strong familiarity with cards, card transactions, and card records.
