Job Description

The Innovation & Automation Analyst I is an entry-level position in the department responsible for researching, identifying, analyzing, and documenting detailed, innovative solutions, ideas, and offerings to drive WPCU’s digital delivery strategies forward with the guidance and support of more senior members of the team. Activities could include but are not limited to gathering business requirements for innovation and robotic process automation projects, building member journey maps, creating test plans and scripts, and performing testing and support for small innovation and automation (digital transformation) projects.

  • Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Support (30%)
    1. Assist in working with senior management, business unit leaders, and staff across the organization to conduct extensive discovery of systems, processes, and procedures relating to assigned robotic process automation (RPA) projects and analyze change impacts.
    2. Assist in gathering and submitting business unit functional and technical requirements and collaborate with the team on proposed automation solutions in an approved process definition document (PDD) and solution design document (SDD).
    3. Adhere to robotic process automation development life cycle (RDLC) processes when collaborating on the submittal of programming requests for development, including assisting with completing the development readiness checklist.
    4. Assist in documenting ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ workflow processes in Microsoft Visio to support PDD and SDD documentation.
    5. Assist in Identifying and prioritizing good RPA candidates discerning business value and complexity using RPA methodologies.
    6. Follow current standards with IT Change Management.
  • Innovation Support (30%)
    1. Engage with Partner-Employees via video content creation, activities, and direct partner engagement.
    2. Assist in analyzing and defining prescriptive approaches to identify and pilot controlled innovative solution projects to potentially impact the customer and partner-employee enterprise, further supporting and driving strategic initiatives forward.
    3. Assist in the research, development, and execution of enterprise-level innovation, automation, and/or digital projects.
    4. Supporting assessments of the credit union’s current state of digital services/offerings, including analysis and reporting of the effectiveness of the credit union’s digital experience efforts, including recommending innovative solutions.
    5. Monitor changing member behavioral data and appetite trends to identify effective solutions.
    6. Analyzes trends in consumer acceptance and use of digital service delivery offerings.
    7. Staying abreast of best practices regarding digital service delivery customer experience (CX), robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent automation, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), including analysis of competitors’ digital service offerings to support optimizing WPCU’s strategies and overall member service.
    8. Help business units respond to and embrace market changes, gaps in policies, procedures, and regulatory and process changes triggered by emerging innovative technologies.
    9. Assist in the preparation of reporting dashboards and activities.
  • Member Journey Mapping (30%)
    1. Assist with member journey mapping workshops guiding business units through the data gathering process.
    2. Assist in creating and maintaining workflows and journey maps for members’ digital experiences (UX) and partner-employee working experiences with the credit union.
  • Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
    1. As applicable, assist with Integration, System, Regression, User Experience (UX), and User Acceptance testing for assigned experiments/pilots.
    2. Assist in the preparation of reporting dashboards and activities.
    3. Support business unit to operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, and perform at a high level regarding digital products, services, and processes.
    4. Assist leadership via research to update WPCU’s digital/innovation strategy annually as part of WPCU’s overall strategic planning process.
    5. Assist in the facilitation of business impact assessments and business case creation.
    6. Assist in the execution of vendor due diligence and risk reviews as needed.
    7. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed.  Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated.  

Required Skills

The Innovation & Automation Analyst I must possess the following:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Information Systems, or related discipline and/or the equivalent work-related experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the financial services industry with a thorough knowledge of financial principles, front or back-office processing, and financial institution regulations.
  • 1+ years of Analyst or Subject Matter Expert experience on projects of varying size and complexity with demonstrated experience in workflow/process analysis, requirements gathering and documentation, and creation and execution of testing plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to simplify complex concepts to the essential components and deliver effective messages to a wide range of audiences.
  • Forward-thinking with an ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience and competency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A well-rounded knowledge of the services WPCU provides and the areas that manage those offerings.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, diagnostic, data modeling, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to monitor and prioritize multiple activities
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio or other workflow process diagramming tools is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and/or intelligent automation solutions is a plus.
