The Vice President, Member Business Services (MBS) provides strategic leadership and oversight for WPCU’s Member Business Services business unit, driving growth in commercial loans, deposits, and related services for member-owned businesses. This role is accountable for the development and execution of strategies that ensure strong financial performance, exceptional member experience, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include managing commercial lending, deposit programs, and ancillary business services, while fostering innovation, digital transformation, and community engagement. The VP leads a high-performing team of partners and ensures operational excellence through robust risk management and vendor integration.

1)      Directs WPCU’s member business services and Marijuana Related Business (MRB) programs, including developing forward-thinking strategies, tactics, and plans to achieve organizational goals. Achieves performance, service, profitability, and growth targets as established while fostering innovation and digital transformation.

2)      Serves as a member of senior management and works collaboratively to achieve strategic goals and initiatives that maximize stakeholder returns.

3)      Oversees implementation of robust, scalable, and growing member business deposit and loan programs (including ancillary member business services such as mobile and online business banking solutions) ensuring excellence in product development, service delivery, operating practices and procedures, loan asset quality, and regulatory compliance.

4)      Builds and sustains a strong market reputation for WPCU’s member business services, extending the reach of the brand and delivering solid financial returns. Actively engages with community-based, member-owned  businesses and represents WPCU at relevant business and community events to strengthen relationships and visibility.

5)      Oversee the creation and management of the budget and staffing plan for respective areas of responsibility. Assess income generation, expense reduction opportunities and addresses budget variances as appropriate.

6)      Ensure assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, and are performing at a high level.

7)      Identifies, manages, and integrates third-party partners to deliver exceptional service to small business owners.  Ensures vendor contractual commitments are met and partnerships align with organizational goals and compliance standards. The management of vendor relationships include:

a)       Involvement in sourcing, evaluating, and selecting vendors.

b)      Participation in the negotiating of contracts with potential vendors to ensure optimal pricing and mitigation of third-party risks.

c)       Ongoing monitoring of vendors (of both performance and reputation) to ensure they provide quality products and services in alignment with organizational goals.

8)      Recruits, supervises, and coaches team members within Member Business Services. Creates a culture of inclusion and growth, providing ongoing training and development opportunities. Champions succession planning and leadership development to build a strong talent pipeline.


Required Skills

The Vice President, Member Business Services must possess substantial experience and competence in a wide variety of areas which may affect a financial services organization of greater than $7 billion in assets. The following are also required:

1)      A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is required (Masters preferred). Candidates with non-business degrees may qualify with considerable experience in the primary areas of responsibility.

2)      At least five years’ experience in executive leadership is required and it is helpful if this experience is in retail financial services, including experience managing and leading high-level supervisors.

3)      At least seven years’ experience in commercial financial services.

4)      Entrepreneurial talent to create, develop and execute on product development, relationship building, and other opportunities is required.

5)      Outstanding communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills are required.

6)      Ability to work collaboratively with key internal and external leaders with emphasis on influencing.
