The Compliance Governance Analyst is responsible for providing support of the Compliance Governance function at WPCU to identify and mitigate compliance risk to the credit union and its members. This includes support of regulatory change management processes, the compliance training program, management reporting, and regular reviews and analysis of member complaints. The Compliance Governance Analyst supports WPCU’s Compliance program daily activities ensuring that credit union activities comply at all times with appropriate laws and regulations.

  • Supports WPCU’s regulatory change management process to identify, monitor, track, and analyze all applicable new rules and regulations, as well as changes to existing rules and regulations, enforcement actions and other regulatory guidance. Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed.  Reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership to ensure member impact and risk is mitigated.  (25%)
  • Assists with impact analyses to assess impacts of regulatory changes or emerging risks to WPCU business practices and participates in action planning with Compliance Managers and business unit partners to assure compliance ahead of regulatory deadlines. (20%)
  • Regularly reviews member complaint data to identify root cause, trends, and potential compliance weaknesses. Provide compliance support on specific complaints as needed. (10%)
  • Supports the Compliance function by conducting general compliance research, maintaining the Compliance PartnerNet (intranet) site, responding to general compliance-related questions from Business Units, participating in risk assessment activities (as needed), and developing/maintaining a Compliance calendar. (10%)
  • Assists with compliance issues management, including development, oversight, and reporting of action plans to address identified compliance issues; utilizes CMS Plus solution to manage issues. (5%)
  • Supports the vendor/third party onboarding and ongoing evaluation processes by conducting compliance risk evaluations of potential third parties prior to contract finalization and ongoing while they remain a vendor. (5%)
  • Provides support of the compliance training program by partnering with Learning and Development to ensure appropriate training curricula is delivered to partners based on job description and responsibilities. Monitors training completion reports to identify past due training. (5%)
  • Assists with development of compliance reporting to provide updates regarding compliance matters at varying levels of management. (5%)
  • Informs Testing team of regulatory changes and may assist in determining impact and necessary changes to testing plans and testing schedule. (5%)
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of all regulatory compliance laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices by reviewing industry publications, receiving compliance training, and networking with professional advisors, experts, and peers. (5%)
  • Participate in regulatory compliance audits and/or examinations. (5%)

Required Skills

The Compliance Governance Analyst has comprehensive knowledge of compliance laws and regulations, federal and state credit union regulations, industry practices, and banking products. The following are also preferred:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a business, legal, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in a financial institution with at least 5+ years’ experience in a compliance role.
  • Ability to think intuitively and strategically so that the department is enabled to anticipate, plan, and effectively execute to mitigate compliance risk.
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational, and strategic planning skills. Ability to take decisive action.
  • Must be able to evaluate and solve problems from multiple perspectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
  • CRCM, CUCE, or NCCO certification preferred.
