GENERAL SUMMARY
The Supervisor of Landscaping is responsible performing routine maintenance and landscape tasks and assisting the Facilities Manager with coordination and training of the groundskeepers on work duties and departmental policies and procedures.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Assists with training team members on departmental policies and procedures. Completes and submits all training paperwork as required.
- Assists the Facilities Manager with ensuring that departmental policies and procedures are followed.
- May coordinate the work of the groundskeepers.
- Resolves problems or refers matter to the manager.
- May supervise the groundskeepers during manager’s absence.
- Operates vehicle and power equipment such as mowers, tractors, chain saws, rototillers, weed whips, trenchers, sod cutters, and leaf blowers to maintain the grounds of the casino and other surrounding properties.
- Reports irrigation problems on property that needs attention.
- Uses proper pruning techniques for trees, shrubs, and groundcovers.
- Participates in special projects in the Landscape Department including design, installation, and maintenance.
- Understands proper planting techniques for trees, shrubs, and flowers.
- Uses proper landscape maintenance practices, for ornamental resort landscapes.
- Checks and reports in area of responsibility proper moisture levels of plant material.
- Uses correct fertilizer, pesticide, or fungicide for different plant materials. Hauls and spreads topsoil, stone, mulch and other landscape materials.
- Performs routine maintenance tasks without supervisor.
- Makes correct repairs to trouble calls as soon as possible with tools and materials that are made available. Contacts Facilities Manager promptly of any problems.
- Maintains grounds in a safe and aesthetically pleasing condition.
- Participates in regular training events.
- Maintains the knowledge of marketing promotions and events to be able to explain to guests.
- Performs all related and compatible duties as assigned.
- Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
- Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
- Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
- Good verbal and interpersonal relations skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as shovels, rakes, brooms, and pruning saws.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of proper gardening techniques.
- Must be a team player.
- Must take initiative and demonstrate accountability and reliability.
- Responsible, dependable, works well with others and enthusiastic.
- Highly organized, attention to detail and able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated good judgment when handling issues and complaints.
Required Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- California driver’s license required.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Must be age 21 years of age or older.
