GENERAL SUMMARY

The Slot Operations Assistant Shift Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of the assigned shifts. The duties include developing and administering schedules, performance accountability, suggests improvements on processes and policies, responsible for team member recognition, creating and issuing corrective action, processing jackpots, greeting guests, manages productivity and ensures that our guest service standard is being met. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the supervision and performance of the Slot Floor Supervisors, Slot Attendants and (as needed) the Slot Technician Supervisors and Slot Technicians.

CORE SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Coordinates, assigns, and supervises the Slot Operations team in their respective areas.
  • Participates in workforce planning efforts.
  • Actively engages in recruitment, selection, and retention of staff.
  • Works directly with the Slot Operations Shift Manager to identify training needs.
  • Oversees and provides on-the-job training of new and existing team members to ensure optimum performance.
  • Collects team member performance data; prepares and issues disciplinary warnings in accordance with company department policies; and coaches them on guest service and technical performance.
  • Maintains high visibility on the gaming floor, and proactively greets, interacts, and assists guests and team members.
  • Visually inspects the gaming areas to ensure gaming environment is inviting to guests.
  • Evaluates and monitors cash and casino floor service to ensure optimum performance and continual improvement in five key areas: guest service, management/team development, sales/marketing, property and staff appearance, and expense/financial control.
  • Responsible for meeting departmental goals related to player’s club membership outreach and service. Ensures that staff the service goals.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to cross-sell Viejas’ businesses.
  • Timely and accurately process tax and jackpot paperwork in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assists in player’s club membership cross selling.
  • Performs all duties of a Slot Shift Manager in their absence.
  • Communicates departmental procedures. Provides suggestions to modify existing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Manages, organizes, and completes assigned projects with attention to detail within the established deadline.
  • Keeps current on marketing strategies and changes in the gaming industry.
  • Protects company assets, reports fraudulent activity, and demonstrates a thorough understanding of fraud prevention.
  • Complies with and ensures that staff follow all governmental laws and regulations, casino and departmental policies and procedures, Title 31 regulations, Minimum Control Standards and Tribal Gaming Commission Regulations.
  • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
  • Keeps the Shift Manager and Slot Operations Manager informed on all pertinent information related to the department, and reports irregularities and problems as they occur, along with recommendations for solutions.
  • Attends and supports all guest service training courses and Leadership Meetings.
  • May assist with special events as needed.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Must have excellent money handling skills, including previous cash and chip handling experience.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills including enthusiastic, energetic, professional, friendly and courteous behavior at all times.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organized, self-motivated, goal-oriented, and values teamwork.
  • Knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques and best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to operate mobile devices.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adjust to and manage change effectively.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be dependable, timely and have high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule according to business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Experience

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Associate’s degree in related field required.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • 5 or more years of management and credit related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Lending and/or credit experience required.
  • 2+ years of management/leadership experience required.
  • Prior casino cage experience preferred.
