GENERAL SUMMARY
The Harm Reduction Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining supply inventory and coordinating the distribution of harm reduction resources and supplies in the community. In collaboration with the staff members of the Yaytaanak Wellness Center (YWC), the Harm Reduction Program Coordinator will provide confidential, culturally appropriate, and patient-centered support to Tribal and community members.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Works in coordination with the YWC staff and leadership to meet grant goals and guidelines.
- Performs weekly physical inventory.
- Handle all aspects of procuring supplies and stocking the vending machine(s).
- Review and provide monthly usage reports for the vending machine(s) to leadership.
- Ensure all vending machine equipment is in good working order, escalating to department leadership immediately any broken, unsafe, or nonfunctioning equipment.
- Keeps shelves organized, rotates stock if needed and removes any expired product.
- Reallocates soon-to-expire product whenever possible to reduce waste.
- Provide case management to Tribal Members and community members who request assistance with their health needs.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
- Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
INTERACTION
- Interacts with Viejas Team Members, Tribal Members, community members, and Tribal Government staff.
SUPERVISION
- Does not provide supervision to other team members.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Demonstrative knowledge of health, wellness, and recovery from substance use.
- Must be dependable, can work cooperatively with others, and must value teamwork.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
- Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
Required Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
EXPERIENCE
- Two years’ experience in public health or direct service work.
- Experience with grant-awarded projects preferred.
- Experience working in a confidential or HIPAA-compliant workplace preferred.
- Lived experience of recovery, mental health, and/or harm reduction is preferred.
