Maintenance
GENERAL SUMMARY
Hotel room maintenance involves daily and periodic checks of rooms and amenities to ensure guest comfort, safety, and operational efficiency. This includes inspecting plumbing, lighting, HVAC, appliances, furniture, and fixtures, as well as addressing potential issues like wallpaper, tile, and carpet replacement. Possess or be able to acquire basic knowledge in areas like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, and other related fields. Delegates assignments to ensure that the rooms and hotel common areas are maintained in a timely and efficient manner.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Implement a proactive schedule for preventive maintenance of hotel rooms.
- Address minor repairs as needed, such as fixing broken floor/wall tile, carpet replacement/repairs, plumbing issues, HVAC filter replacement, replacing light bulbs, drywall patches.
- Cleans and installs vinyl, ceramic, and rubber tile and sheet vinyl floor coverings. This cleaning process may require sanding, filing in imperfections, or etching the are to be covered, depending on the condition and composition of the floor.
- Completes the preparation for finishing surfaces with putty or other filler material and applies primers, sealers and proper finish products with brush, roller, airless and conventional spraying.
- Prepares wall surfaces, door, window frames, which may be constructed of wood, stucco, concrete or metal, by wire brushing, scraping, sanding or washing with detergent and rinsing with tap water.
- Delegates assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains a daily, weekly, and monthly checklist of hotel rooms preventive maintenance.
- Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
- Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains and manages inventory of necessary tools, materials, and supplies for daily tasks.
- Communicate with other hotel and trades staff to resolve issues and provide updates on progress.
- May be required to assist with estimating, material takeoffs, project specifications, and maintaining files of specifications, and diagrams generated from inspections.

Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Ability to lead and mentor a team.
- Possess or be able to acquire basic knowledge in areas like HVAC, electrical, plumbing, construction, and other related fields.
- Skilled in maintenance, and repair procedures, including preventative maintenance, breakdown repair and troubleshooting, construction, installation, and fabrication techniques typical in the trades.
- Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
- Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
Required Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- California driver’s license required.
EXPERIENCE
- Must be age 21 years of age or older.
- Minimum of 2 years of hotel maintenance or related experience
