GENERAL SUMMARY

The Card Grader is responsible for ensuring the integrity of gaming activity as it pertains to card control by following all applicable internal controls and procedures proscribed by the Gaming Commission. Maintains inventory and security of cards, dice, chips, and other gaming related items as required by the Surveillance Director and Technician Supervisor, and assists with other duties as assigned.

CORE SCOPE OF POSITION

  • Complies with all internal controls relating to card control and surveillance.
  • Works with casino game operations in the issuance and receipt of cards, dice, tokens, and other controlled items.
  • Performs all essential card grader duties including the cleaning, checking, destruction, and grading of cards and other controlled items.
  • Maintains the accuracy of all card inventory and control logs as required.
  • Reports any irregularities and real or perceived risks to the Surveillance Technician Supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety requirements while operating mechanical equipment and performing cleaning duties.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all information associated with, including but not limited to, internal and external investigations and job related duties.
  • Complies with all sections of the Gaming Commission conflict of interest, conduct, and ethics code (GCR009).
  • Promotes the activities of the Commission, its programs and goals.
  • Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations.
  • Complies with and follows Viejas Guest Service Standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Surveillance Technician Supervisor or Surveillance Director.

  • No supervisory duties are assigned to this position.

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Sufficient verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented and values teamwork.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be self-motivated, punctual, and able to adjust to change.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule according to business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Required Experience

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • High school diploma or General education degree (GED).

EXPERIENCE

  • Some experience in the areas of inventory control and logistics preferred.
  • Proficient in understanding operation and protection of casino table games.
  • Familiar with the operation of some mechanical equipment such as drill press, band saw, and card shuffler.
