GENERAL SUMMARY
The Media Intern will work with the Community Health Coordinator to learn, participate, and engage in many functions of the health communications efforts by the Viejas Tribe. The Media Intern is responsible for performing a variety of general clerical duties and promotion of health messaging on digital and print media sources. The duties include but are not limited to assisting with office support, research, content creation, and social media insight analysis.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Assists the Community Health Coordinator with incorporating photo and video content into public health communications materials, such as social media sites and print media
- Assists the Community Health Coordinator with creating a social media strategy
- Assists the Community Health Coordinator and Project Coordinator with creating monthly newsletter
- Gains knowledge of cultural and health resources, programs, and issues
- Researches health issues that may impact Tribal and community members
- Researches public health messaging strategies
- Stays up to date with current design and visual communication trends to bring fresh ideas to projects
- Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
- Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Interacts with internal and external guests.
SUPERVISION
- Does not provide supervision to other team members.
Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, computer, and Internet usage.
- Good knowledge of health and wellness.
- Good attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be dependable and can work cooperatively with others and must value teamwork.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse cultures.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Willingness to learn new media programs and techniques.
- Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
Required Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
