Skate Rink Assistant Manager

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Skate Rink Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting VOC Operations Management with the day-to-day operations of the skating rink to ensure that team members meet the expectation of the organization and the guests’ needs.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Manages daily schedule, assigns job tasks, and set clear objectives and expectations for Skate Rink staff and trains staff to perform quality work.
- Ensures staff is trained in all departmental procedures, rules, regulations, and standards.
- Monitors and reviews job performance and provides timely feedback designed to continuously improve individual and team performance including writing and delivering formal corrective action.
- Manages team members equitably based upon performance and does not show favoritism.
- Quickly and effectively deals with inappropriate behavior or individual affecting the team.
- Conducts pass down of relevant or critical information to relief team member before going on break or at the end of shift. Steps in and assists with front-line duties when necessary.
- Offers suggestions and solutions to issues, recommends changes to departmental policies and procedures to improve efficiency and performance.
- Ensures the new team members are effectively integrated into the work group.
- Manages cash to include opening and closing of cash registers. Counts and verifies accuracy of cash.
- Maintains accurate control sheets and records any variances.
- Makes daily deposits and recording of revenue.
- Supervises and monitors (on skate rink) the public skating sessions and ensure safe environment is maintained.
- Monitors the skate rink conditions and oversees the general maintenance.
- Participates in skate operations efforts such as renting and dispensing rental skates, cleaning skates with cloth or buffing tools and placing them on the shelf according to size.
- Keeps surrounding work area clear and free from trash, debris, glasses, plates, etc. This includes floors (vacuuming/sweeping), walls, fixtures, tabletops, counter tops, seats and service areas.
- Cleans restrooms, which includes taking out the trash, cleaning the mirrors and floors, wiping down the sink, etc.
- Manages skate rink inventory and supplies, including skates, merchandises, store materials, etc.
- May be required to work special events outside regular operational hours.
- Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
- Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Excellent ice skate and roller skate skills preferred.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with children.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Demonstrated high degree of good judgment.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of proper cash handling procedures.
- Knowledge of opening and closing procedures.
- Must be able to take initiative and demonstrate accountability and reliability.
- Responsible, dependable, enthusiastic, and works well with others.
- Ability to work regularly outdoors in inclement weather, including but not limited to rain, hail, snow, wind, and extremely cold weather.
- Ability to work in a professional high-pressure environment while demonstrating and maintaining good personal relation/people skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work well under stress.
- Must be a self-starter and able to adjust to change.
- Must be able to work flexible hours during the day or evening including weekends, holidays, and all blackout dates.
Required Experience
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Associate degree preferred.
- California driver’s license required.
EXPERIENCE
- Must be age 21 years of age or older.
- 2 to 5 years of related experience is required.
- Supervisory/management experience required.
