The Operations & Supply Chain Finance Analyst is a hands on, self-motivated individual supporting the Verso Mill Finance, Mill Management and Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams in meeting their annual and strategic business profit and cash flow objectives.  In addition, the position will have a dotted line to the Verso Mill Controllers supporting the Verso’s financial excellence initiative which includes internal management reporting, the budgeting and forecasting process, and partnering with Operations and SCM management to enhance the company’s processes as well as analyzing growth and profit opportunities.  Besides supporting Verso’s Finance Excellence, the role will also support Verso’s Best in Class initiative in Safety, Environmental, Risk Management and Compliance management systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic business liaison with Supply Chain, Sourcing and Logistics to improve cost positions and to drive process improvements to meet or exceed Verso’s Freight and Warehouse spend targets
  • Provide impactful reporting and analysis solutions across multiple organizational dimensions
  • Monitor, collect, and analyze data on current operations, including scheduling, sourcing, warehousing, production and delivery to the customer
  • Identify pain points within the SCM process and develop solutions to resolve conflicts and inefficiencies
  • Provide analysis to negotiate with vendors and carriers to secure best pricing and ensure contract compliance
  • Provide proactive analytics in product delivery, cost to serve customers and other cost benefit scenarios
  • Create performance reports for management review
  • Ensure Logistics and Warehouse dashboard supporting SCM is accurate and effective.
  • Contribute to drive financial performance of the Verso locations together with the Controllers and Leadership teams
  • Contribute to drive financial performance through proactive analytics and process improvements
  • Plays an active role in driving for change and continuous improvement in the business and within finance; identify areas that require improvement
  • Support annual business planning process, forecasts and actual reporting
  • Support Verso’s month end close activities and annual financial and process audits
  • Provide financial expertise and challenge on ad hoc projects

Required Experience

What You’ll Need To Succeed:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Business Administration, Analytics, Supply Chain or other applicable degree and/or
  • 3+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, preferably paper industry experience
  • Exposure to:
  • Advanced Microsoft Office required, specifically advanced Excel experience
  • Creative and Forward Thinking analytical mindset
    • Cost Accounting environments,
    • Supply Chain and Logistics functions,
    • ERP systems, preferably SAP, and
    • Inventory management.
