Graduate Admission Counselor

Position Description:
Valparaiso University is seeking a motivated and student-focused Graduate Admission Counselor to support the recruitment and enrollment of prospective graduate students. This position is ideal for individuals interested in higher education, admissions, or enrollment management.
The Graduate Admission Counselor will work closely with assigned graduate programs and serve as a primary point of contact for prospective students, guiding them through the admissions process from inquiry to enrollment. The annual salary for this position ranges from $40,000 to $45,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Major Responsibilities:
- Serve as an admissions contact for assigned graduate programs, supporting prospective students throughout the enrollment process
- Communicate with prospective students via phone, email, SMS, and virtual platforms to provide guidance and answer questions
- Review graduate applications and assist in the admissions decision process in collaboration with program directors
- Participate in virtual and in-person recruitment events, including webinars, information sessions, and graduate fairs
- Represent Valparaiso University at recruitment events and partner locations
- Build relationships with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support program recruitment efforts
- Utilize Slate CRM to track student engagement and manage communications
- Assist with marketing and outreach efforts for assigned programs
- Support on-campus events such as Graduate Preview Day and program-specific visits
- Maintain knowledge of graduate programs, admissions requirements, and financial aid basics
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 1 to two (2) years of experience in admissions, higher education, customer service, recruitment, sales, marketing, or a related field is required. Relevant internships, graduate assistantships, or equivalent experience may be considered.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in higher education, admissions, or student services
- Experience in customer service, student leadership, or campus involvement is a plus
- Familiarity with CRM systems (Slate preferred, but not required)
Additional Information:
- Work Environment & Schedule
- Hybrid position with an expectation of three (3) days per week in-office
- Schedule may vary during peak recruitment periods and events
- Must be able to work occasional evenings, and or weekends
Travel & Requirements
- Travel Season is typically (September-November) and (February-April)
- A valid driver’s license is required
- Ability to lift and transport recruitment materials (up to 25 lbs)
