Stockroom Manager and Laboratory Coordinator

Position Description:
The Stockroom Manager and Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for supporting the educational and research activities of the Department of Chemistry. This support takes numerous forms but major responsibilities include managing the chemical and non-chemical stockroom inventory and ensuring proper setup of educational laboratory experiments.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinating setup and preparation of laboratory experiments (this includes supervision of laboratory aides) and the subsequent “tear down” of the lab.
- Purchasing, receiving, and inventorying chemicals and equipment. Requires use of VU credit card.
- Organizing/performing preventative maintenance on the department’s equipment/instruments. Preparing lab manuals
- Overseeing disposal of chemical waste
- Staying current on safety and chemical storage best practices.
- Keeping the laboratory spaces organized, clean, and safe.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelors degree
- This work involves working with numerous chemicals and preparing chemical solutions. Therefore, some experience working with chemicals and knowledge of safe working practices are expected.
Other Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
