Position Description:

The Slate Student Success Specialist is responsible for the overall administration, configuration, and support for the institution’s student success sub-module of Technolutions Slate. This role will be integral to the customization, development, cycle-preparation and training of Slate for Student Success to support the strategic student success and retention goals of the university. This role will provide oversight of the functionality of Slate for Student Success including the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the system to align with the university's goals and objectives.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide support of Slate’s functionality in the areas of early alert systems, queries, form development, document management, and communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather student success requirements and translate them into effective system solutions.
  • Develop, maintain and promote a training program for use by faculty, students and staff on the use of the Slate for Student Success system.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for the student profiles and the early alert system in Slate.
  • Serve as primary technical liaison for Slate Student Success with internal campus systems and partners (ie IT, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Life, etc.).
  • Provide troubleshooting and issue resolution, collaborating with IT support teams when necessary.
  • Support other student success initiatives and other duties as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Technical associate degree or a bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Previous higher education experience, preferably in the area of student success
  • Experience with enterprise systems or experience working with structured databases systems or websites, servers, etc.
  • Previous experience in an end-user technical support role is preferred. Ability to work with people of varying technical skills.
  • Proficiency with Technolutions Slate and Colleague preferred.
  • Proven customer service experience combined with the ability to work well with others across departments and sites

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Creativity, initiative, excitement about leveraging the potential of student success systems and solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Understanding of workflows and the use of conditional logic to configure a system for varying user groups and student populations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
